MEETINGS: Library Board - 3rd Wednesday of the month 7:00pm Creative Writing Group - 1st Wednesday of each month 3-5pm Library Book Group -  2nd Thursday of the month 1:00pm STORY TIME WITH MISS STEPHANIE: Bring your little ones to the library for Story Time with Miss Stephanie.  Join us for stories and a craft every Thursday morning at 10:30.  ART EXHIBIT: Our next art show is all about quilts and quilt making.  Quilts ranging in age from 1850 to 1940 will be featured in this exceptional exhibit. Quilts in various stages of completion will also be on exhibit to show the viewer the process of this time honored craft.  Opening reception on Saturday, February 3 from 3 - 5 pm.  All welcome.  Quilts will be for sale with 50% of sales donated to the library. KNIT 1, PEARL 2, CHAT: Now that Winter is well and truly here, help ward off cabin fever by joining our Library Knitting Group.  If you like to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt - any kind of hand work please join us. We will meet weekly at 4:30 on Tuesday afternoons starting January 30.  All levels, including beginners, welcome. p.s. Ali just dropped off a new batch of her luscious hand spun yarns for sale. SAVE THE DATE - ART TALK - GERMAN-AMERICAN ARTIST JAN BALET: This talk titled The Life and Art of Jan Balet  will cover the fascinating story of Jan's life, from his escape from Hitler's army, through his days as a highly successful commercial artist, art director, and children's book author and illustrator in New York, to his later years as a fine artist residing in Europe. This lecture and slide presentation will be held in conjunction with an exhibition of Jan Balet's art at SUNY Plattsburgh from 2/12/18 to 3/16/18. The presenter, Marie Balet, is the wife of Jan's only son. Please join us for a rare look into this artist's work and life.  Wednesday, February 28 at 4 pm.   LIBRARY BOOK GROUP: Our book for January is Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Canadian author Emma Hooper.  "Heartfelt...In simple, graceful prose, Hooper has woven a tale of deep longing, for reinvention and self -discovery, as well as for the past and for love and for the boundless unknown." We are now meeting on the 3rd Friday of the month at 4PM.  January's meeting is on the 19th. Please join us for an always lively discussion. Book title for February will be The Arsonist by best-selling author Sue Miller.
